Seasonal maintenance
Every season has its own checks. Here's what to inspect on your self-propelled machine to avoid breakdowns and extend its life.
Spring
Pre-season check-up
- Replace oil, air and fuel filters
- Check engine and transmission oil level and condition
- Inspect tyre pressure and condition
- Check braking system (pads, discs, hoses)
- Sprayer overhaul: pump, nozzles, fan, hoses
- Battery and starter system test
- Check belts and coolant hoses
- Lubricate joints and grease critical points
Summer
Under stress, harvest monitoring
- Check coolant level and radiator
- Verify fan and thermostat operation
- Check hydraulic system pressure and leaks
- Inspect belt tension and condition (fan, alternator)
- Clean air filter (field dust clogs it fast)
- Check clutches and couplings under prolonged load
Autumn
Post-harvest, clean-up and minor repairs
- Full machine wash (remove pesticide residue)
- Clean and inspect sprayer before storage
- Repair minor damage accumulated during the season
- Check and top up all fluids
- Inspect for leaks (oil, diesel, coolant)
- General greasing and corrosion protection
- Proper storage of seasonal equipment
Winter
Scheduled overhaul, the ideal time
- Full service: engine oil, filters, belts
- Check and top up antifreeze
- Battery check and maintenance (recharge or replace)
- Full braking system inspection
- Electrical system and light overhaul
- Clutch inspection and adjustment
- Preparation for any mandatory inspection
- Plan major work for the coming season
